Festival

50 - 100 Attendees

Overview
From Kelly Williams, Photographer
Photographed for the NYC Human Rights Commission and the Weeksville Heritage Center. From the Weeksville Heritage Center website: 'The Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 declared all enslaved Africans free, but it wasn't until June 19, 1865 that word got to Texas. Since that date, Juneteenth has been an annual celebration of emancipation across the country. We will be opening Unapologetically Black week with "#ForTheCulture: Reclaiming Black Spaces". Make your voice heard as we ponder how do we assert ourselves moving through this world, reclaim black holidays, and Black digital, physical and mental spaces.'
