During late 2010 Dana & Joanne were planning an event for the “San Diego Spa Association” which was to happen early 2011, at the same time Jim & Scott were also planning an event but for a different association known as the “Southern California Spa Association”, it happened to be in the same week early 2011! Knowing each other as friends and business colleagues in the spa & wellness industry for many years they contacted each other and explained the predicament. Rather than go ahead and have 2 separate events both in the So.Cal area the 4 of them decided to meet instead to discuss how they could go forward with a collaborative event for So. Cal as a whole and that is how iconnection was born. One Wednesday night the 4 met at Spa Gregories sitting around a large grandiose table in Del Mar and brainstormed on what they could do to all work together and “connect” Spa Directors and Vendors in So Cal as a whole. Their first event was held March 2011 at the Grand Hyatt in Carlsbad with over 100 spa directors in attendance, Dr. Murad as the keynote speaker and 40 vendors. Since then they have held events in the areas of Ojai, Orange County, San Diego and even sailing on a presidential yacht.
